The Republican presidential hopeful’s rather incautious proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the US has brought the real estate tycoon more troubles than he likely expected. A Dubai firm with which Trump was partnered on Thursday got rid of The Donald’s image on billboards advertising a new golf complex.

The huge billboard on Umm Suquiem Road advertises The AKOYA, a Trump-branded project by Dubai real estate firm DAMAC Properties that will include a golf course, luxury villas and spa. The billboard showed the Republican presidential frontrunner swinging a golf club.

According to a Reuters photographer, the image disappeared from the billboard on Thursday, along with the adjacent picture of Trump's daughter Ivanka, an executive vice president for his Trump Organization firm. Gold letters affixed to a stone wall at the entrance to the project site, spelling "Trump International Gold Club," were also gone by the end of the day.

The provocative comments the outspoken politician tends to make every time a tragedy takes place have garnered widespread condemnation. Has Trump finally gone too far by saying all Muslims should be stopped from entering the US? Some of his Muslim partners obviously think he has.

Dubai-based Lifestyle, one of the region's largest home decor retail chains, withdrew "Trump Home" products from its stores on Wednesday in response to his controversial comments.

"As one of the most popular home décor brands in the Middle East, Lifestyle values and respects the sentiments of all its customers," Sachin Mundhwa, Lifestyle CEO, told 7DAYS. "In light of the recent statements made by the presidential candidate in the US media, we have suspended sale of all products from the Trump Home décor range."

Rising Anger in UK Fuels Anti-Trump Sentiment
DAMAC's official position has been not to comment on Trump's personal or political agenda, and the firm's officials seemed to stand by their statement as they knocked the candidate's image off the firm's billboard without explanation. A spokesman for DAMAC Properties, Niall McLoughlin, refused to confirm whether the move had anything to do with Trump's imprudent statements.

Meanwhile, Trump on Thursday postponed a planned trip to Israel amid the growing backlash after his proposal.
