BERLIN (Sputnik) – On December 4, Germany’s parliament approved a proposal to conduct a military campaign in Syria against Daesh, which is outlawed in a number of countries worldwide, including Russia and the United States.
According to the survey, commissioned by the German broadcaster ZDF, only 33 percent of those interviewed said they believed the terrorist threat to their homeland would stay at the same level following the commencement of the military campaign.
Almost a half of the German public, however, supports the decision to embark on the Bundeswehr operation in Syria, while 46 percent consider the move to be wrong, the poll found.
The survey was carried out by the Mannheimer Forschungsgruppe Wahlen sociology center between December 8 and 10. The center interviewed 1,266 German citizens eligible to vote.
