WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The suspect, Ali Charef Damache, has been arrested by the police in Barcelona, Catalonia, on a US warrant, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Demache conspired to kill the cartoonist because he depicted the Islamic Prophet Mohammad in a cartoon with the body of a dog.
The United States has accused Damache of providing material support to terrorists and an attempted identity theft to aid an act of terror, according to the report.
Damache’s conspired to kill the cartoonist in 2009, Colleen Larose, a Montgomery County woman who is currently serving a ten-year sentence in a US prison, had said.
The US Justice Department officials from Philadelphia will seek extradition of the alleged terrorist to the United States.
