"Today, Friday, I will try to pull the pieces together and I will discuss [with] the different groups during the day. And I will be in a position to present a text which will be the final text tomorrow, Saturday morning," Fabius, who is also the COP21 president, told heads of delegations as quoted as saying by the Rappler news outlet.
After the final draft of the climate deal will be released, the delegations will be given time to consider it and make the final decision on the agreement’s adoption by Saturday afternoon, he added.
"We can accept this light and slight delay, but we have to stick to Saturday, midday or 2 o’clock," he said.
The French capital is currently hosting the COP21, which was initially scheduled to end on Friday.
Representatives of over 190 countries are expected to reach an agreement to address global warming and cut carbon emissions, introducing a legally binding and universal strategy on the issue, which is due to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.
