Sixty nine police officers were injured during Saturday's protests in the German city of Leipzig, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least two law enforcement officers were seriously injured, the DPA news agency said. Earlier reports put the number of injured policemen at 40.

​Earlier on Saturday, police were forced to use water cannons, tear gas and pepper spray to disperse some 200 neo-Nazi radicals and over 2,000 of their opponents after demonstrators started throwing stones at officers. About 23 people got arrested.

​Police reported of 50 damaged vehicles, four of which were beyond repair.
