TEL AVIV/GAZA (Sputnik) — “Yesterday evening… a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel. In response to the attack, IAF aircraft targeted two Hamas military posts in the northern and central Gaza Strip,” the IDF said in a statement.
No injuries were reported in the exchange.
The Israeli government has repeatedly accused the Palestinian Hamas movement, classified as a terrorist group by a number countries, including Israel, the United States, Egypt and the European Union, of attacking Israel from the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Palestinians seek recognition of their independent state on the territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, which were seized by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War.
