"The Secretary [Kerry] was updated on Jordan’s efforts to coordinate the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) members’ efforts to identify those groups in Syria that would not participate in a political process or respect a cease-fire," Toner stated.
Kerry and Judeh also addressed other issues related to the situation in Syria, including the planned ISSG meeting in New York City on December 18.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011 as several opposition factions as well as Islamic extremist groups have fought the Syrian Army in an effort to topple the government of President Bashar Assad.
Last week, Syrian opposition groups gathered in Riyadh and formed a 32-member council, which is set to choose 15 delegates that will represent the Syrian opposition at forthcoming talks on Syria’s political future.
