BEIRUT (Sputnik) — The Kuweires military airbase in Syria's Aleppo Governorate resumed on Tuesday arrivals and departures of the Syrian Air Force' helicopters after a three-year siege, a source at the airbase command said.
"Today, several helicopters successfully landed and took off. Our base thus resumed its operations," the source told RIA Novosti.
The Syrian Army lifted the three-year blockade of the Kuweires military airbase on November 11. After the blockade was removed, the Syrian army continued to fight to the north, east and west of the air base, with the main task to create a safe zone around and resume air harbor operations.
On November 24, the Syrian Army Command announced that all settlements around the airport had been liberated, repelling the armed groups from the Kuweires airbase.
