WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — "A subject with a gun has been reported on the IUPUI campus near the 700 block of Blake," the message said. "If you are on campus, trust your instincts and take safe shelter in the nearest available room. Lock the door if possible."
The suspected shooter is an African-American male wearing a hoodie and jeans, according to the message.
The IUPUI authorities urged the students and the staff to remain in place until receiving "all clear."
Earlier on Tuesday threats were made to school in New York City and Los Angeles. Following the threats, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) superintendent decided to cancel classes for the rest of the day.
The Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis is a public research college with about 30,600 students.
