France dramatically increased its airstrikes against the extremist group in Syria after the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, with French President Francois Hollande declaring the terrorist attack an "act of war."

Turkey should play a more central role in solving the Syrian crisis, in particular by tightening the border control to limit the movement of foreign fighters into the war-torn country, French Secretary of State for European Affairs Harlem Desir said. - Sputnik International

French Air Defense Forces started to use cruise missiles against Daesh terrorists in Syria for the first time, the French Ministry of Defense reported.

The official statement said that the airstrikes near the town of Al-Qaim, located in western Iraq at the border with Syria, were carried out by a group of ten Rafale and Mirage fighter jets.

France is part of a coalition of 65 countries taking part in the military operation against Daesh terrorists in Iraq and Syria, unauthorized by the local authorities.

France’s involvement in the operation intensified after a series of terrorist attacks in Paris on November, 13, as result of which 129 people were killed, more than 350 — injured.
