GENEVA (Sputnik) – The Office of UN Special Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura positively assessed the consent of Russia and the United States to hold meeting of Syria support ministerial group in New York on December 18, the UN envoy's spokeswoman Jesse Shaheen said Wednesday.
According to her, Mistura’s office was informed of a fresh meeting of the International Syria Support Group at the level of foreign ministers, as it was initially planned, and welcomed the move.
Speaking at a joint news briefing after talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the meeting would focus on drafting a UNSC resolution affirming the agreements on Syrian political settlement reached during the Vienna talks.
