MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Migrants and refugees arriving in Greece will be accommodated at a hockey stadium in the suburb of Athens, Elliniko, for the following three months, local media reported Tuesday, citing Greek Alternate Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas.
The Greek Reporter news portal said, the decision was made after consultations with the mayors of Glyfada, Elliniko and Ilioupoli, the areas adjacent to the hockey facility.
The asylum seekers will be relocated from a former Olympic taekwondo hall in Paleo Faliro, according to Mouzalas.
On December 10, the refugees were brought to the taekwondo stadium from the town of Idomeni on Greece’s northern border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
