WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — More Americans say they are worried about being the victim of a terrorist attack than a mass shooting, according to a Gallup poll released on Wednesday.
"While mass shootings seem to be a common aspect of American life nowadays, and terrorist attacks are relatively rare, more Americans say they are worried about being victimized by the latter than the former," Gallup said.
Moreover, the poll found that more Republicans than Democrats fear terrorism over mass shootings. At least 64 percent of Republicans are "very" or "somewhat" worried about terrorism compared to 35 percent of Democrats who share the same fear.
In recent months, significant changes have been in the works to US security posture after two high-profile attacks in Paris, France on November 13 that killed 130 individuals and in San Bernardino, California on December 2 that killed 14 individuals.
