MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Chelsea Football Club announced Thursday the club and its manager, Jose Mourinho, would go separate ways in light of the team's weak performance this season.
After 16 Premier League games Chelsea ranks 16th among 20 clubs standing just one point above the relegation zone and having lost nine games.
"Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have today parted company by mutual consent," the club said in a statement, only seven months after the team led by the Portuguese specialist won the last national title with Chelsea.

The club added that Mourinho, who won three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cups over two spells, is the most successful manager in the 110-year history of Chelsea and "will always be warmly welcomed back to Stamford Bridge."
