MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's labor market is stable compared to the situation in 2008, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

"The situation is stable on the labor market. The unemployment rate stands at around 5.6 percent. If we look back at 2008, this is a positive result by the government," Putin said at his annual press conference. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a major end-of-the-year press conference, addressing the nation's economic concerns and issues on the international agenda.
