WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A friend of the San Bernardino gunmen, who took the lives of 14 people in a mass shooting, has been detained by US federal authorities, according to media reports on Thursday.
Enrique Marquez was arrested on criminal charges in connection with an attack on the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino on December 2, The Los Angeles Times reported.
US-born Syed Rizwan Farook and his Pakistani wife Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people and injured 20 others during the assault. Marquez was responsible for giving the gunmen two assault rifles, media reports said.
On Wednesday, FBI Director James Comey said the investigation into the attack is still ongoing. Comey noted that the shooters were radicalized before the emergence of the Islamic State, also known as Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries, including Russia.
