"This cooperation, as well as the quadrilateral coalition of Syria, Russia, Iran and Iraq, must become the core of the true international coalition against terrorism, which is making the region and the world suffer," Jaafari said.
According to Jaafari, the UN Security Council has been informed about the violations, committed by the US-led international coalition on the Syrian territory. In particular, Jaafari mentioned a US-led coalition attack on a Syrian army training camp in Deir ez-Zor city, coalition encroachments on Syrian sovereignty and assaults on oil facilities under the pretext of targeting the Daesh, also known as ISIL/The Islamic State fighters.
According to Jaafari, the Syrian government asked the UN Security Council with conducting its primary duty to take all the necessary measures to prevent similar attacks in the future, whie upholding Syria's right to demand compensation from the US-led coalition for the destruction of Syrian economic facilities.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the country’s government fighting a number of opposition factions, as well as radical Islamist groups including Daesh — outlawed in Russia — and the Nusra Front.
Russia and the US-led coalition have been conducting separate air campaigns in Syria against Daesh.
