WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US online retail giant Amazon is negotiating with the Boeing Company to hire 20 B-767 aircraft to run its own major air delivery program, media reported.
"The online retail giant wants to build out its own cargo operations to avoid delays from carriers such as United Parcel Service, which have struggled to keep up with the rapid growth of e-commerce," The Seattle Times said in a report on Friday.
Amazon executives have been expressing growing frustration over the bottlenecks in delivering goods ordered from them, the report explained.
The company has already held talks with Air Transport Services Group, Atlas Air and Kalitta Air.
Amazon executives were looking to decide whether to lease the planes by January 31, 2016, according to the report.
