PRAGUE (Sputnik) – The Ceske Noviny news portal reported, citing Defense Minister Martin Stropnicky, the reason for increasing the number of servicemen from 453 to 816 was linked to the overall review of the NATO Response Force.
As many as 128 lawmakers out of 152, who attended the parliamentary meeting, supported the government's proposal to increase the number of Czech soldiers in the NFR, while 23 rejected it and one abstained.
During the 2014 Wales summit, the NATO allies agreed to enhance the capabilities of the NFR, in order to rapidly respond to emerging global security challenges.
