The first launch of the US private space company SpaceX's rocket Falcon 9 since a failed attempt in June could take place on Sunday and is expected to put 11 communications satellites into Earth orbit, owner of the company Elon Musk said Saturday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier in December, SpaceX said that a static fire test was set to verify the readiness of the Falcon 9 rocket.

The launch of 11 OG2 satellites is part of satellite operator Orbcomm 's second and final OG2 mission at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

In June, SpaceX’s CRS-7 Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon cargo ship with supplies for the International Space Station exploded just three minutes after it lifted off from Cape Canaveral. According to Musk, the space vessel exploded due to an overpressure in the liquid oxygen tank.
