GENEVA (Sputnik) — The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has opened a criminal case against a member of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ICCS) on suspicion of having links to banned terrorist organizations, according to an Office of the Attorney General's statement published on Saturday.
Switzerland's Office of the Attorney General with the support of the Federal Office of Police has opened a criminal proceeding against one unnamed person also suspected of violation of Article 2 of the Federal Law of the prohibition of groups like Al-Qaeda, Islamic State (Daesh in Arabic, outlawed in Russia) and similar organizations.
The ICCS Board of Directors' member, a German citizen, is accused of "having presented his journey to embattled regions of Syria in a video for propaganda purposes, without having explicitly distanced himself from Al-Qaida activities in Syria," according to the statement.
The criminal proceeding was opened on December 9.
