MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Boeing 777 carrying 473 people landed at Moi international airport, Mombasa earlier on Sunday.
“Bomb experts from the Navy and the CID were called in and took the device which they are dismantling to establish if it had any explosives,” Police spokesman Charles Owino said, as quoted by the Guardian newspaper.
The suspicious device was first noticed in the plain's lavatory by a passenger, who then informed the crew.
Scheduled flights to Mombasa were initially disrupted but normal operations have resumed, the media reported.
