Syria Support Group to Continue Work on Terrorist List – Lavrov
VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) — According to the Russian foreign minister, it is important to ponder over the inadmissibility to allow terrorists to seize power in the countries, prevent any "connivance" in respect to them and think of the region’s fate to maintain its states’ secular character, save the Middle East as the cradle of all the world’s major religions.

"It is important to promote political reforms, but not to boost them as it happened during the Arab Spring by overthrowing the regime, and then everything [will turn out] by itself, and democracy will be achieved by itself. It is necessary to help countries of the region that have been stirred up by outside interference and whose statehood has been seriously weakened, and thereby limited these countries’ ability to withstand the terrorist threat," Lavrov stated in the film by Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov that was broadcast on Rossiya-1 television channel.

Lavrov: Syria Should Remain a United, Multi-Confessional State
The expansion of Daesh (ISIL/the Islamic State) militant group, which seized vast areas in Iraq and Syria is currently among the major global security challenges.

The violent fundamentalist group has attracted thousands of foreigners to join their ranks, shattering the foundations of statehood of a number of Middle Eastern nations.

The extremist group is outlawed in many countries around the globe, including Russia.
