MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia’s first modernized cargo spacecraft of the new Progress-MS series will be launched from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan on Monday morning, a spokesperson of Russia's space agency Roscosmos said.
"The launch is scheduled for 11:44 Moscow time [08:44 GMT] from the 31st launch site. The docking of the new cargo vessel with the ISS [International Space Station] is scheduled for December 23 at 13:29 Moscow time in automatic mode," the spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
The Progress-MS cargo ship was created after modernization of the Progress M series. The vessel will deliver around 2,500 tonnes of goods to the ISS, including fuel, water and compressed oxygen.
Initially, the launch of the spaceship was scheduled for November 21, but the experts insisted on conducting additional checks.
