WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Canadian Minister of National Defense Harjit Sajjan met with Iraq’s Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani to discuss the fight against Daesh, Kurdistan Regional Government Head of Foreign Relations Department Falah Mustafa said in a Twitter message on Monday.
"In meeting w/ President Barzani, Minister Harjit Sajjan reiterated Canada's commitment in the fight against ISIS [Islamic State or Daesh]," the message said.

On Sunday, Sajjan met with the Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled Obeidi to discuss how to further cooperation as well as address security issues.
Canada's CF-18 fighter jets currently take part in the air combat mission of the US-led international coalition against the Islamic State, which is outlawed in many countries including in Russia.
Since 2014, Canada has deployed about 70 special operations troops to train Kurdish forces in northern Iraq.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that all Canadian aircraft will be withdrawn from the area by March 31, 2016.
