CAIRO (Sputnik) – Saudi Arabia is seeking to join the forces of the Arab and Islamic world together to counter common contemporary challenges, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman said Wednesday.
"The Kingdom is striving to close ranks to resist dangers and challenges, threatening the Islamic and Arab world," the king said in a two-minute speech before the National Advisory Council, broadcast by Arab satellite channels.
He added that Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy was focused on protecting the Islamic and Arab world, implementing anti-terrorism measures, and achieving safety and stability in the world.
Earlier in December, Saudi Arabia announced the establishment of a 34-nation Islamic coalition to fight terrorism in the Middle East, including against the notorious Islamic State (Daesh) terrorist group, which is outlawed in Russia and many other countries.
