TOKYO (Sputnik) — North Korea should increase the number of military exercises carried out in the country, as well as upgrading its heavy military equipment, the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said Thursday.
"Practical exercises should be carried out so often that [the soldiers] would be capable of coping with the most severe and cruel war," the North Korean leader said, as quoted by the Korean Central News Agency.
The North Korean leader also urged the government to boost efforts to constantly modernize the country's heavy military equipment, the agency added.
North and South Korea remain legally at war, as no peace treaty has been signed after the Korean War of 1950-1953.
