Philippines to Spend Big on Massive Military Modernization
MOSCOW (Sputnik) On December 23-25, BIFF militants conducted a series of terror attacks in the country, killing at least eight innocent people and allegedly destroying and damaging several power grid facilities.

BIFF reported that the attacks were the result of government activities against jihadist groups in country's southern island of Mindanao and warned of more attacks in the near future, The Philippine Star, a local English language newspaper reported.

The newspaper added that the militants aimed to show that they opposed the central government and had enough power to struggle against it.

The leaders of the BIFF, fighting for the Islamisation of the mostly Christian Philippines, have previously expressed allegiance to Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries, including Russia and the United States.
