MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Some 56 percent of Russians consider Russian President Vladimir Putin to be the 2015 "Person of the Year," a poll revealed Saturday.
According to one of Russia's main pollsters, the Levada-Center, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is in second place with 10 percent of votes, followed by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, with 8 percent of popular support.
The pollster interviewed some 1,600 people in 137 settlements in 48 Russian regions.
In November, Forbes magazine named Putin the world's most powerful person for the third consecutive year. Putin was also included in the shortlist of contenders for TIME magazine’s 2015 Person of the Year award in December.
According to the Russian Public Opinion Research Center's (VCIOM), as many as 89.9 percent of respondents said they approved of Putin in October.
