MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Communist Party of China’s (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) launched an investigation into the head of China’s communication giant China Telecom's corruption allegations, local media reported Sunday.
Xiaobing Chang, former chairman of China Unicom and current chair of China Telecom, is being suspected of "severe disciplinary violations," Xinhua news agency reported, citing a CCDI statement.
China Unicom and China Telecom are two of China's top three communication giants.
After assuming office in 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping launched a large-scale campaign against corruption, targeting primarily high-level officials in the Communist Party, the armed forces and state-run enterprises.
