MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Saudi Armed Forces intercepted a missile launched from Yemeni territory in the direction of the southern Saudi city of Najran, local media reported Sunday.
According to the Saudi state news agency SPA, a Scud ballistic missile was launched and then intercepted by the Saudi Air Defense at 11:30 p.m. local time (20:30 GMT) on Saturday.
The attack is the latest in a series of anti-Saudi missile strikes conducted from Yemen, however, none of them has caused any damage.
Since 2014, Yemen has been in a state of military conflict, between the government headed by Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Houthi rebels, supported by army units loyal to former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In late March, a Saudi-led international coalition started carrying out airstrikes against Houthi positions at Hadi’s request.
