MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – Salvadorean police in cooperation with the Navy detained four vessels, carrying about a metric ton of drugs in some 100 miles offshore the country's western department of Sonsonate.
"This operation lasted for more than 48 hours and could be considered as the confiscation of a biggest consignment of drugs this year," Salvadorean police said on its Twitter account on Saturday.
Police added that the operation was a result of cooperation between agencies, combating drug trafficking in the region from different countries.
