MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Jawad Bachare, the regional head of the committee in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, during the first half of 2015, there was an increase of over 23 percent of Islamophobiс acts. Since November, 13, the number of such acts has amounted to 222.
A total of 119 cases are related to discrimination, such as prohibition of increasingly veiled women, and 103 are linked to unreasonable searches in Muslims' houses, according to Europe 1 that cited Bachare.
Such Islamophobic acts reportedly target mosques and often involve violence against Muslims.
The French government is currently considering ways to limit these acts.
