Japan Police Arrest S Korean Man Over Bombing of Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On November 23, a blast occurred in the war shrine dedicated to the Japanese warriors, who died on behalf of the country. Soon after the blast police found materials that could be used to make a bomb in a restroom of the shrine.

According to KBS World Radio, a South Korean, identified only by surname Jeon, detained earlier this month, is expected to appear before the court on a charge of implication in a blast.

Japanese media reported that Jeon had confessed that he had installed some sort of explosive device in the restroom, but soon after that he resiled from the statement.

The Yasukuni shrine is often regarded as a symbol of Japan’s past militarism by other Asian nations. Cases of material damage to the complex were registered in 2011 and 2013.
