MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to La Stampa news outlet, people will not be allowed to travel by cars, motorcycles and scooters in the city between 10:00 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT) and 4:00 p.m. (15:00 GMT) from Monday until Wednesday.

Those who violate the ban will face fines of up to 663 euros ($727), according to the publication.

The decision to introduce such a restriction was taken following the lack of rainfall that has recently led to increased pollution levels.

Instead of using private transport, people will be able to acquire a so-called "anti-smog" ticket that will allow to get around the city on public transport for 1.50 euros per day.
