MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – Among the passengers on board the military aircraft were two generals, the El Tiempo de Bogota news portal reported, adding that the helicopter was inspecting the 1,400-mile Venezuelan-Colombian border when it fell to the ground.
A total of four individuals wounded in the crash were sent to the adjacent hospitals, though they reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Following the incident, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delsey Rodriguez thanked the Colombian side for the assistance provided to the Venezuelan military injured in the accident. Meanwhile, Bogota responded by saying it did not consider the incident a violation of the territorial sovereignty of the country, as the helicopter crashed about 10 meters (10.93 yards) from the border.
