Mobile reception and transmission centers for the new system may be deployed in a matter of several hours.

“Right now we are almost done installing these new long-range transmitters at six command centers of the Russian Aerospace Forces. A similar system is being developed for our tactical aviation, which is slated to go online in 2017,” Alexander Yakunin, the head of the United Instrument-Making Corporation, told RIA Novosti.

These new systems use all existing communication channels, including satellite, and a network of ground-based aerial communication facilities.

“Systems of this class make it possible to cut the time top-level commands take to reach the plane crews down to under 20 seconds from several minutes now,” Yakunin added.
