MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Since Saturday, the US authorities have issued tornado warnings in at least 10 US states. Some of the states have also declared flash flood warnings.
The CNN channel said that 35 deaths were caused by the current severe storms, with the majority of people dying in Missouri and near Dallas – 13 and 11 deaths registered respectively.
The channel said that many people died when trapped in their cars, which were swept off by water.
The broadcaster added, citing the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), that more than 18 million people in the United States today lived in areas that had been hit or were likely to be hit by floods.
