TBILISI (Sputnik) – On Tuesday, the Georgian legislature backed Kvirikashvili’s newly appointed government in an 86 majority vote of confidence against 28 opposition votes.
Margvelashvili signed the decree on Wednesday, according to the presidential administration, five days after expressing verbal approval for Kvirikashvili to assume the prime ministerial post.
Kvirikashvili, 48, succeeds Irakli Garibashvili, who announced his resignation a week ago to ostensibly lead the election campaign headquarters of the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia coalition.
