TOKYO (Sputnik) — The leaked information contained data no only on health insurance, but also personal information, including names, addresses and phone numbers, the ministry said.
The ministry suggested that the leak might have occurred through hospitals and pharmacies.
The investigation into the incident is currently underway.
In June, Japan's nation pension system was hacked, leading to 1.25 million cases of personal data leaks, including people’s pension IDs, names, addresses and birth dates.
