Putin Signs Law Suspending Free Trade Agreement With Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday signed a law on suspending the free trade zone agreement with Ukraine beginning January 1, 2016. Gas exports from Russia to Ukraine are excluded from the law.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The law comes into effect on the heels of Ukraine’s implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement on the same date.

The text of the document has been posted on the government's legal information website.

The free trade zone agreement was signed on October 18, 2011, by the members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
