MOSCOW (Sputnik) – "At this time the airline can confirm that passengers and crew have been examined by medical personnel following turbulence encountered en route and 21 passengers have been transferred directly to local hospitals from the airport comprising eight with non-life threatening injuries and 13 for observation," Air Canada said in a Wednesday statement.
The Boeing 777-300ER plane was carrying a total of 332 passengers and 19 crew members, according to Air Canada.
Some passengers were reportedly hurt by flying baggage during the severe turbulence incident.
After experiencing turbulence, the plane diverted to Calgary and landed "without incident" at 15:23 local time (22:23 GMT) on Wednesday, the carrier said in its statement.
An investigation into the occurrence is underway.
