Pentagon: Ramadi’s Complete Clearing to ‘Take Some Time’
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, Iraq's army announced that it had regained full control over Ramadi, which had been occupied by Daesh militants since May. Anbar province Governor Suhaib Rawwi and US Secretary of State John Kerry later said that Ramadi had not yet been fully recaptured.

"Military operations in Ramadi are currently being restricted to airstrikes, ground operations have been suspended and are expected to resume in the next two days," Karbuli said as quoted by the Al Hayat newspaper.

According to Karbuli, several districts have remained under Daesh control until recently but the militants are expected to leave these territories.

Karbuli added that after Ramadi's full liberation from the terrorist group, the Iraqi forces may start liberating the Iraqi cities of Heet and Fallujah.

Daesh, which is outlawed in Russia and other countries, has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq and declared a caliphate on the territories under its control. The group is currently considered to be one of the main threats to global security.
