MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The 42nd G7 summit will be held on May 26-27 in Japan's southeastern city of Shima. As Japan won the bid, the authorities promised to make every effort to protect the country from terror threat.
The official logo for the G7 summit was selected on December 28.
On June 7-8, 2015, the leaders of Japan, the United States, Canada and four European nations held an annual G7 summit in Bavaria, Germany.
Russia did not attend the last G7 summit, since its participation in the group's meetings was suspended in 2014 over the country's alleged role in the Ukraine conflict.
