Merkel Fears Germany May Fall Apart in the New Year - German Media
17:47 GMT 31.12.2015 (Updated: 17:48 GMT 31.12.2015) In a published version of her speech, Merkel warned German citizens against racial hatred. For the first time, her New Year's address will be broadcasted with Arabic and English subtitles, German magazine Spiegel wrote.
The German Chancellor urged her compatriots to avoid racist practices, thus preventing a split in German society.
"We should not follow those who — with coldness and even hatred in their hearts — make judgments about what it means to be German, and seek to exclude others from this definition," the magazine cited a part of Merkel's speech.

The German Chancellor was resolute that the decision to accept refugees from other countries was correct and called on Germans to unite and believe that the integration of immigrants into the European society would only be beneficial for the country.
"Germany will be able to extract economic and social benefits from a successful migration," Merkel assured.
The EU border agency Frontex reported that 1.2 million migrants had arrived in Europe over the first 10 months of 2015. According to the European Commission, the current immigration crisis is the biggest since the World War II.
