Due to a 90-minutes delay at the Phoenix airport, the Shorts had only 7 minutes in Minnesota to make their flight connection, and they arrived at the gate just as the last plane for the day was departing. There followed something of a modern-day traveler’s miracle.
“My son [was] waving his arms and pleading with the pilot through the floor to ceiling windows,” News Now quoted the mother, Marcia. “I was crying and attempting to console my girls when the phone rang. The pilot was pulling back to the gate to let us board the plane.”
Captain Adam Cohen of Delta Airlines, knowing that he could face serious consequences for his career by causing a flight departure delay, decided nonetheless to help a sorrowful family, after seeing them through the terminal windows.
“This is something we’ll take with us, knowing we made a difference,” the pilot told ABC.
