MOSCOW (Sputnik) — At least 14 people died after a ferry crossing the Egyptian Nile River sank, local media reported Friday.
The ferryboat with an unknown number of passengers sank while moving between settlements located on the Nile River late on Thursday, Egyptian Ahram Online news website reported, citing Governor of Egyptian Kafr Sheikh province Sayed Nasr.
Nasr added that the investigation into the causes of the accident should reveal whether the ferry sank because of overweight or bad weather conditions.
According to the website, the rescue teams are looking for other possible victims.
