‘Affluenza’ Teen Ran Up $2100 Strip Club Bill Before Arrest, Mom Paid Bill

Before being busted for fleeing the country, “affluenza teen” Ethan Couch went to a Mexican strip club and racked up a $2,100 tab on booze and prostitutes, which his mother paid for.

The 18-year-old rose to infamy after killing four people and injuring 11 in a drunken car crash. He avoided prison after his attorneys successfully argued that the teen suffered from affluenza — meaning that he could not understand the consequences of his actions due to his financial privilege.

The teen was placed on ten years of probation, and ordered not to drink alcohol. After a video surfaced of him at a party playing beer pong, him and his mother, Tonya Couch, fled to Mexico, where he currently remains after being granted a temporary stay in his deportation proceedings.

While in Mexico, Couch went to two strip clubs and was brought back to his hotel by a waiter and manager after he did not have enough money to cover one of the tabs. Marina Meza, who works at the hotel, told the Dallas Morning News that she was sent up to the room to wake his mother to come and pay what he owed.

“Then I found out about his past and thought that too was really odd,” Meza said. “He didn’t have enough money to pay the bar bill, and his mother had to bail him out.”

Meza also stated that his mother was extremely angry by his large bill.
