WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The attacks in Haditha resulted in the death of 11 Iraqi troops and 30 injuries, according to Haditha councilman Khalid Suleiman.
US Department of Defense spokesman Col. Steve Warren stated that the use of suicide car bombs followed by an infantry assault is now a "standard tactic" for the Islamic State, also known as Daesh.
The Haditha attacks follow significant gains by the Iraqi and allied forces in retaking the Islamic State-held city of Ramadi.
On Sunday, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Ghani Asadi, commander of Iraq’s anti-terrorism contingent, told Sputnik that the parts of Ramadi still held by Daesh should be liberated by Iraqi forces in the coming week.
