MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Saturday, the air base was stormed by a group of gunmen in army fatigues. At least seven security personnel were killed in the attack.
The military activities at Pathankot air base were completed, leaving six militants dead, but the security services continued mop-up operations in the neighboring areas, the minister said as cited by the NDTV television channel.
He added that some 90-110 pounds of ammunition had been found on terrorists, while some of the equipment was of Pakistani origin.
The investigation into the assault has been overtaken by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a government agency set up to tackle terror threats in the country.
